Inspiration for these illustrations was found in Serbian mythology and folk stories. The story says that the Rusal’s girls appear sometime in the beginning of spring, and they are beautiful unmarried drowned girls. On that week,wherever they pass, all starts to swells. Only men have towatchthemselves, becausethese beautifulredhead girls are waitingfifty-one week, for these seven days to come, to seduce men. A man who sees them in the round, dyingin painfromtheir beauty.
